Security man steals N160,000 laptop, sells it for N30,000

A security man attached to a company in Sabo-Yaba area of Lagos was recently charged to the Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba, for stealing a HP laptop, after he was captured by a Closed Circuit Television, CCTV,  camera situated within the company premises.

An eye witness disclosed that the 21-year-old man identified as Mike Prince was only a week old at the duty post on August 10, 2013, when he made away with a laptop valued at N160,000, after he got off duty, thinking that no one saw him.

The next day, the issue of the missing laptop led to the review of recordings by the CCTV which showed Mike as the culprit.

The incident was then reported at the Sabo Police station and Mike was arrested when he resumed duty the next day.

After interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to stealing the laptop and selling it to a computer engineer identified as Adamu at Sabo market for N30,000, out of which he brought a Blackberry phone for N15,000.

It was also gathered that Adamu took off when he sighted Mike in handcuff, leading a Policeman to his shop.
