APC chief blasts Edo teachers over Oshiomhole’s comments

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Abdul Saibu, has berated the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, in the state for blaming the recent kidnap of teachers on Governor Adam Oshomole’s declaration that teachers in the state were well paid.

Protesting members of NUT Ovia North-East council, had attributed their members’ ordeal in the hands of kidnappers to Governor Oshiomole’s remark that teachers in the state were better paid, an utterance they said gave kidnappers the impression that they (teacher) were well off.

Taking a swipe at NUT, Saibu said that the union’s assertion and that of some musicians criticising the ban of motorcycles by the state government, had a hidden agenda as same was a campaign of calumny.

The Jagbe Ward 6 party leader stated that rather than applaud Oshiomole’s efforts in transforming the state into a mega city, a feat he said his predecessors could not achieve in eight years, his detractors were busy engaging in destructive criticism.

He said: “If Oshiomole’s utterances, as claimed by NUT, led to the kidnap of teachers, whose utterances led to all other kidnaps in Edo State?

“I am not in doubt about the governor’s sagacity. Have we not observed with keen admiration the developmental efforts that have positively altered the landscape of our beloved state under his watch? Edo State people have never had it so good.”
