Obiano wins Anambra governorship election

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Willie Obiano, has been declared the winner in the Anambra State governorship election.

Obiano scored 180,178 to beat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Tony Nwoye, to the second position with 97,700 votes and Senator Chris Ngige of the All Progressives Congress,  who came third with 95,963.

The Labour Party candidate, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, came fourth with 37,495.

The formal declaration was made by the Chief Returning Officer, Prof. James Epoke, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar around 1 am on Sunday.

The declaration of the winner brought to an end a long-running and controversial process of electing a new governor for Anambra State.

The entire process of electing the new governor was dogged by controversy as three of the major political parties that fielded candidates called for its cancellation and vowed to boycott the supplementary election.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, who admitted the errors committed in the election, apologised to the nation but said the errors were not substantial enough to warrant the cancellation of the entire exercise.

The supplementary election was eventually held on Saturday but was characterised by low turnout. The Agbaja Polling Unit 22 in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area, which has a voting population of 739, for instance, had only 24 candidates accredited and 20 of them voting in the supplementary election.

The main election, which held on November 16, could not be concluded on the same day and INEC announced that election in 65 polling units in Obosi ward in Idemili North Local Government Area would be repeated.

The Chief Returning Officer said the voting population in the areas where election did not take place was large enough to make the second or third person defeat the leading candidate. He, therefore, declared the election inconclusive.

Following the development, INEC  declared  that supplementary election would in 210 polling units, where 113,113 voters could not vote on November 16. The areas affected  cut across 15 local government areas and most of them (160)were in Idemili North.

Epoke said the Electoral Act required that for a winner to be declared in an election, the difference in the total voting population of the areas where election was cancelled should be less than the difference between the votes scored by the candidate with the highest votes and the votes of the candidate with the second highest votes.

The returning officer had reported that the total voting population in the areas where election was cancelled was 113,113, which was higher than the 79,754 difference between the leading candidate’s votes and the second highest candidate’s votes, saying the commission had no choice but to declare the election inconclusive.

“The rule guiding this election is that for a winner to emerge, he must have majority of votes cast and the required spread of 25 per cent of votes in two thirds of the local government areas.

“We observed that due to many reasons, there were a lot of cancelled votes that made it difficult for a winner to emerge,” Epoke said.

He said the winner of the election would be declared only after election has been conducted in areas where the election was cancelled.

In declaring Obiano winner, Epoke said the APGA candidate did not only win the majority of the votes cast, but also fulfilled the requirement that the winner should score 25 per cent of the total votes cast in two thirds of the local governments in the state, in Anambra’s case 14 local government areas.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission Resident Commissioner in Rivers State, Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak, has commended the people of Anambra for coming out to vote in Saturday’s supplementary governorship election.

The electoral commissioner, who supervised the election in Onitsha South and Onitsha North council areas, spoke at Okija hall, where voting took place in four polling units.

“The important thing here is that for so many places where I have visited, the party agents were  there, especially those of the major parties.

“It is a clear indication that there had not been any boycott of the election by any of the parties.

“The people were interested in completing this exercise so that at the end of the day, their governor would be announced to them,’’ he said.

Ikoiwak said NEC directed its poll officers to display the Form 60E on the day of the exercise, which would show that the election had been completed peacefully.

“You cannot display that form if you do not have a conducive environment.

“And that form would display the result in each unit for members of the public to copy and know what happened in the unit,’’ he said.

Woman Stabs Abusive Husband To Death Over Fried Rice Argument

A new mother has found herself in trouble after she accidentally stabbed her “trouble maker” husband to d*ath after a food related argument.

Our men have to keep in mind that anger management and control is very important in any relationship. If you can’t control your anger, please put marriage aside for now.And for women, please be careful to watch out for key signs of violence in the guy you’re dating and don’t marry a violent or abusive man.

If you mistakenly married an abusive man, learn to respond to him when he is angry and if you can’t handle the situation, pack your things and leave the house because a broken marriage is better than a wasted life.

To cut this long story short, 33-year-old Biola Gbadamosi, the mother of a 3-month-old baby has been arrested after killing her husband in anger. Biola murdered her hubby, one Mr Jamiu at their rented house in Ikorodu area of Lagos State on the 7th of September 2013.

According to police report, angry Biola stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife during an argument over Fried rice.Police noted that Jamiu, a Vehicle Inspection Officer had history of domestic violence before his death.

“Jamiu and I dated for four years, but when I got pregnant this year, we did introduction and I started living with him in Idi Iroko, Ikorodu. However, when I was three months pregnant, he started beating me. “Most times, he takes alcoholic drink and he comes back home drunk and starts beating me for flimsy reasons. He even had a kidney ailment.

“One day, he came home drunk, accused me of infidelity and started beating me. He said he had been told that I was going to poison his food, but I continued to endure. I, however, reported the beatings to his mother and siblings.”

The suspect said after being delivered of a baby in August, she usually went to her family’s house in Somolu from where she would take her baby for post-natal.

“While I was about leaving my parents’ home on September 7, 2013, my husband called to say that he was broke and I should make money available for the weekend. When I got home, I started cooking fried rice but my husband, who was drunk, said he did not like it. I jokingly called him a bush man and an argument ensued.

“While we were arguing, a neighbour, who sells drinks, came into our flat to collect money that we owed her. I was grating carrots with a knife when my husband slapped me and said I must leave his house that night.

“I used the knife I was holding to strike him on the thigh and he started bleeding profusely. The neigbours and I took him to a hospital. At the hospital, I was told that my husband’s injury was not deep, so neighbours said I should take my baby home.”

The next morning, she was told that her husband has passed away at midnight. She was promptly arrested by officials from Owutu Police station after the case was reported. The 33-year-old OND degree holder from Ibadan Poly insisted she killed her husband by mistake. She pleaded for mercy for the sake of her baby.

“My little baby, Oluwaseyi funmi, is with my husband’s family and I fear that my child will never get to know me if I am sent to prison. My br*asts are still filled with milk and no baby to suckle them.”

Many men can’t handle fame, they’re scared of celebrities – Karen Igho

Model and ex-Big Brother Africa winner, Karen Igho tells Ademola Olonilua about her fashion and style

Do you wear your natural hair at all?

I’d rather rock my natural hair than weaves . Natural hair is easier to maintain than weaves and it is more convenient.

But do you have a favourite hairstyle?

I love braiding my hair. Braids are versatile and can be packed or styled in different ways. It’s also cheaper than weaves and easier to maintain.  There is no stress to it at all. There are no bad hair days with braids. I can roll out of the bed and go out with my braids without doing anything to it. That is impossible with weaves.

Does it cost you so much to braid your hair?

It depends on the hair style and the hairdresser. Braids don’t cost as much as weaves. I won’t put a price to it but I spend enough to look good. No ridiculous amounts though because I don’t wear any hairstyle for long.

How often do you visit a salon?

I visit the salon every week. The nature of my job as a showbiz personality does not give me the luxury of keeping hair for any time longer than a week.

How long does it take to make your hair?

It depends on whether it’s braids or weaves. Weave is a maximum of two hours but braids can take as long as a whole day, depending on the length.

Do you feel incomplete without your make-up on?

I love looking natural. I always prefer natural look or light make-up over the heavy ones. I can do with or without makeup. I don’t feel like anything is missing without it.

You really love tattoos.

Yes I’m a tattoo lover and I have a number of them.

Do you think they are fashionable and do they have a meaning?

As I said earlier, I have a number of tattoos, so I must think highly of them. Yes they have meanings. Meanings I won’t go into because my tattoos are my private life.

Do you patronise Nigerian designers?

I buy both foreign and Nigerian labels. I don’t favour any over the other. It all depends on the occasion and the designs readily available at the time the need arises for them. And then again, our Nigerian designers are very talented and have taken fashion to a whole new level. A lot of our Nigerian designers are now recognised at international level and make clothes of the same quality. So, why won’t I patronise them? I am a proudly Nigerian babe and I always identify with my own.

To you, is there a clear cut difference between fashion and style?

I believe your style is your fashion. It all depends on how you combine the things you want to wear and matching the right colours and outfits for the right occasion. As for me, I always ensure I wear the dresses; the dresses don’t wear me.

What influences your fashion trend?

I really don’t know.  I honestly don’t have anything I can pinpoint as an influence on my fashion trend. I know I love the good things of life and also quality things.

What is that fashion item you can’t leave home without and how did you come about it?

There’s nothing I can’t leave home without. I don’t have any ‘must have on’ fashion item, not even a make-up item. I never attach unnecessary importance to any item. Won’t I go out if I don’t have the item available in an emergency?

What’s the most expensive item you own and how much did it cost?

My most expensive possession has to be my house. Of course, I won’t say the price it costs but that is the most expensive item I have.

Do you have a fashion weakness?

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes and more shoes! I can never have enough shoes. I have a strong weakness for shoes. I own lots of shoes, a whole lot. My whole house is filled with shoes. I’ve even lost count of the number of shoes I own.

How is it competing with men in the industry?

Competing? With who? Why? See, the industry is big enough for everyone, so there is no need for any form of competition or rivalry. There is enough space for both men and women. But after all is said and done, staying relevant so far has been God.

Would you say your celebrity status scares men away from you?

It attracts and it scares men away too. It scares some because not every man can handle or understand fame. It takes a strong and understanding man to be able to be with a female celebrity. The attracting aspect comes from when they just want to be with you because they want to be able to say ‘I’ve been with Karen Igho.’ It takes God’s grace to be able to sift the chaff from the wheat.

Are you in a relationship?

I’m not in any relationship at the moment because I need to concentrate on building my career. I have a lot ahead of me. Love is unpredictable though; if my man comes along the way, then it is all well and good.

What do you admire in a man?

Confidence. If a man is decked up from head to toe in a designer label but lacks confidence, then he is lacking the most important fashion accessory of them all. Arrogance should not be confused for confidence though. There’s a very thin line and it should not be crossed.

What is your take on cleavage exposure and ladies wearing skimpy and tight dresses?

Whatever rocks anybody’s boat; anything that makes anyone happy, the person should go for it. Who am I to judge? So far they feel comfortable in the dress and they are rocking the dress properly, that is okay for them.

You recently became a British citizen, how did it happen?

Yes I did. I lived in the UK for ten years and fulfilled all other necessary requirements to make me a British citizen and I did become one.

Do you intend to leave Nigeria for UK in the near future?

No. I’m still a Nigerian citizen. I’ll forever be a Nigerian. I have Nigerian blood flowing through my veins. I still have my Nigerian passport. Nigeria is my home anytime any day, no matter how far I travel, where I travel to, how long I’m gone for, I always yearn to come back to my fatherland.

What are the challenges you face while building your brand?

It has not been easy but I thank God. We Nigerians find it easy to believe everything we hear about celebrities and some of these false stories can put a dent in anyone’s image or brand. So staying afloat of the scandals and different stories has been by the grace of God.

What are you currently working on?

I’ve been going from one set to another, shooting different movies. Also, the shoot for my reality television show will soon start. I also have a charity event I’m working on.

Female teacher defiles four-yr-old pupil

At Golden Sharon Nursery and Primary School (formerly Kingdom Sharon), located at Ijaba area of Ota, Ogun State, an incident occurred on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, that has created panic in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson (not real name).

One of their twins, four-year-old Lydia (not real name), who attended the school, was defiled by a female teacher, Olajumoke Oyewole, in a fashion they suspected had ritualistic intent.

Lydia, who is a pupil of Nursery One with her twin brother, got home on Tuesday afternoon and started complaining of a nagging pain in her private part. But things she later revealed confounded her mother.

Saturday PUNCH decided not to reveal the real names of the victim and her parents because of the nature of the case.

The mother, who spoke with this correspondent on Thursday at Ota after a visit to the police station where the accused female teacher had been taken, said after Lydia came home after school, she began complaining consistently when she wanted to urinate.

She said, “I asked her what was wrong and she said, ‘stone.’ I thought she meant that somebody stoned her and I waved off the matter that she would be alright.

“But when the pain persisted and she kept complaining, I decided to check why she was feeling pain there. That was when I discovered a wound on her private part.

“I was alarmed and I asked her who did that to her. She immediately mentioned Aunty Jummy (the accused.) I asked what the teacher did to her and she said the lady dipped her finger in her private part and brought out a stone which she used to scratch her there.

“The lady is not her class teacher. She (Oyewole) teaches another class beside my daughter’s. I did not understand this and I quickly called my daughter’s class teacher on the phone to help investigate the issue. She said I should come the following day but I decided to go that same day.

“I reported the matter to the head of the school and while we were leaving, we went past the (accused’s) class. My daughter said, ‘Mummy come, this is where she did it. She sat on that chair and put me on her lap and used the stone.’ She pointed to the teacher’s chair in the classroom. The lady was not around at the time.”

According to the woman, who was clearly confused when she spoke with our correspondent, the way her daughter was defiled was strange. She said she had to take her daughter to the family clinic to conduct a test on the little girl.

Meanwhile, she had apprised her husband who is away at work in Benin, Edo State, of the incident. He instructed her to report the matter to the police as soon as possible.

“The doctor examined her and asked me to have a look at my daughter’s private part. She explained that apart from the wound from which my daughter was bleeding, her hymen had been torn. The doctor said only a state hospital could give a report on such test since it was suspected that a crime might have been committed,” the woman said.

The case was reported at the Onipanu Police Division, Ota, later.

The police were said to have taken the little girl to a state hospital nearby, where a test was done and the same confirmation was made about the defilement of the girl.

When the police went to arrest Oyewole, she denied committing any crime and resisted arrest. But the school owner advised her to go with the police.

A member of the victim’s family, who did not want the case to be treated with levity, informed the Children’s Anti-Corruption Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, concerned with the protection of children’s future.

In company with this correspondent, CACTI visited Onipanu Police Division to find out how investigation into the matter was going.

While the divisional police officer was not available at the time, a divisional crime officer, said Oyewole had been locked up in a cell.

“The teacher is in the cell. This is a serious matter that we are still investigating. We are still working on the case. She will probably be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta soon,” the police officer said.

While in the premises of the police station, the accused’s mother, with tears on her face, approached CACTI’s group and knelt down pleading with them to let the matter be settled.

But when asked if she had asked her daughter why she carried out such act on the little girl, she said she had not asked her.

The victim’s mother was asked whether there was any possibility that her daughter might be confused as to who did such a thing to her, she said she considered it but that it had become clear that it was Oyewole.

“The night of the incident, we woke her up in the middle of the night just to be sure, we asked who did it to her, she said, ‘Aunty Jummy’. The following morning, it was the same answer.

“When we got to the hospital, the doctors threatened her with injection to say who really did it. My daughter can faint at the sight of an injection. That is what she hates most in life. But she repeated the same name.”

CACTI’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Omololu Akinwande, said there was a high possibility that the teacher had been sent to perform the act in order to use the girl’s blood for ritual purpose.

He said, “What you must note is that the girl is not in the accused teacher’s class. She is also a twin and the strange object the teacher allegedly used is suspicious.

“We cannot rule out the possibility that some wicked people had connived with the teacher to get them something from a twin. This is why this case must not be swept under the carpet.

“It is just unfortunate that many schools in Nigeria are no longer safe for children. Government needs to make it compulsory for schools to put in place CCTV cameras in order to keep children safe. When people know they are being watched, they are not likely to try something bad with children in their care.”

Akinwale insisted that rape in Nigeria had gone beyond sexual desire, adding that many now indulge in it for ritual purposes.

The phone number of the proprietor of Golden Sharon Nursery and Primary School was switched off when an attempt was made to contact her on Thursday.

Saturday PUNCH learnt on Friday that members of the accused’s family have sought the help of community leaders in the area to appeal to the victim’s parentst to drop the case.

A member of the victim’s family who did not want to be named, also told this correspondent that the police at the Onipanu division have been making efforts to make the parents drop the case.

“They told the mother that she would be the one paying for the transportation of police and the accused from Ota to Abeokuta for the duration of the investigation and anytime they need to go to court. They just want to pressure them into dropping the case,” the relation said.

But the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, has said that the police at the division did not have any power to stop the prosecution of the case.

“I have been briefed on the case and I have been told the accused is still in custody. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the case be transferred to the state  CID.  The CID will take over the investigation of the case and justice will surely be done in the matter,” he said.

The proprietor of the school was also arrested by the police on Friday.

We didn’t give ASUU ultimatum – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has weekend, said his government did not give the  Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, an ultimatum to resume work or be sacked.
Fielding questions from newsmen at the expanded caucus meeting of the Bayelsa State Peoples Democratic Party held  at Government House, Yenagoa,  the President said, the Supervising Minister of Education only passed on the decision of  the Committee of Vice Chancellors.
“We didn’t give them ultimatum; it was the Committee of Vice Chancellors that took that decision. The Supervising Minister of Education only passed on the decision.”
Jonathan also said the strike embarked upon by the  ASUU  was no longer a trade dispute , but a  subversive action.
He said, “What ASUU is doing is no longer trade union. I have intervened in other labour issues before now, once I invite them they respond and after the meeting they take decision and call off the strike.
“At times we don’t even give them a long notice, unlike, in the case of ASUU that was given four days notice before the meeting. As you are meeting to resolve trade disputes, you expect the trade unions to get their officials ready.
“What was expected having met with the highest authorities in the land for long hours, was for ASUU to immediately issue statement within 12 or latest 24 hours , to state their position whether they were accepting government’s offer or not. And if they are not accepting they should state the reason for that.”
“But despite the fact that I had the longest meeting with ASUU in my political history, we did not start that meeting until around 2:00pm and the meeting ended the next day in the early hours.  As far as the government of Nigeria was concerned, all the critical people that should be in a meeting were there, so what else do they want?
“After that they didn’t meet until one week, despite the fact that you met with the highest authority. It was unfortunate one of them, Prof. Iyayi died.
“The way ASUU has conducted the matter shows they are extreme and when Iyayi died, they now said the strike was now indefinite, our children have been at home for over five months.”

I was arrested for being a Boko Haram leader – Asari Dokubo

A former President of  Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was arrested last week in Republic of Benin, has accused those opposed to the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan of masterminding his arrest.
Asari, who apparently betrayed emotion on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,  Friday night, also said he was arrested and interrogated by Benin officials over an allegation from Nigeria that he is a leader of Boko Haram.

Speaking to journalists at the airport, he also described as lies the report that Jonathan sent a presidential jet to fly him into Nigeria from Benin.

His words: “Crisis is normal, it can also happen here in Nigeria, it can happen anywhere in the world. The people and government of Republic of Benin have no problem with me.

But if people alleged that somebody is a leader of Boko Haram, the government of that country will investigate the person.

”The allegation has much to do with 2015 because when you read comments on social media, you find out that people who are against President Goodluck Jonathan said they should vilify me, and make sure I die before 2015.

The arrogance of Shekau and his group is unislamic. Which President if not Goodluck, will accept somebody to tell him to become a Muslim or resign?

But they are not going to succeed. I am not going to die. I will be present in 2015, and I will do what I am going to do to ensure that Jonathan wins in 2015. There is nothing they can do about it. This is their last fight and it is so unfortunate that the way they are going with show how immature they are.
“I just arrived from Cotonou. I drove in my car from Cotonou to Lagos airport where I boarded a flight to Abuja. The report is not true. No presidential jet was sent to me.

”I do business in Cotonou, and I have been living in Cotonou since 2008. Politically, people who are in Nigeria are trying to fabricate lies, which are not variable, and send it to Republic of Benin government. So I was taken for interrogation and they found that the allegations were false, and I was promptly released with over 20 of my staff who were also taken in.”

The former warlord, however, said his arrest was a blessing in disguise as he had an opportunity of meeting with officials of Benin after his interrogation. “I have met with the top and powerful people in Republic of Benin. Since I went to that country, I have never had any reason to meet with their government officials, but this crisis has made it possible for me to meet with all top government functionaries of the Republic of Benin. The crisis has raised my profile in that country.”

Asked whether President Jonathan intervened to secure his release, he said: “It is not just only President Jonathan that intervened, Nigerians generally intervened. The number of people that came into Cotonou the day I was taken in, and the following day, were over one thousand.”

Empress Njamah replies Timaya’s negative comments

Empress Njamah isn’t one to publicly throw shade at her former partner.

If you were expecting the Nollywood actress to give her own robust reply after music star Timaya said she “has a negative record”, you’ll be disappointed.

Punch recently contacted the actress to speak on Timaya’s comments. In the phone conversation, she revealed “People who are mature can depict what is true and what is not. I am not ready to say anything.”

Timaya-Empress-Njamah

On if the comment bothers her: “Why would it bother me? It is one thing to be hurt over such statement and another thing to be disappointed. I wasn’t hurt and I wasn’t even disappointed. Worst things have been said and written about me but the people who know who I am would tell the difference.”

She also revealed that she is more interested in her life at the moment rather than talking about “what doesn’t make sense”.

“I am more involved with my birthday and celebrating it with the orphans and the less privileged. I am better off talking about this than to talk about what is not important. I am too busy making money. People who know you will always know how positive you have affected their lives. I am surrounded by so many people who have shown me love so there is no reason for me to be pained.”

“Too busy making money” Yikes! Empress sure knows how to reply statements

Flying ‘wizard’ crash-lands while flying over a church where an all-night vigil was being held [pictured]

A Ghanaian man in his 70s who claimed to be  a wizard was found on the bank of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region.

Charles Atta as he called himself looked frail, pale and bore protruding breasts like that of a teenage girl.

His body was covered with mud from the bank of the river where he was found by two brothers, Liberty Obeng and Liberty Obeng who claimed they found the strange man crying for help.

flying wizard crash

The two brothers said the self acclaimed wizard confesses to them that he was in the company of his colleagues , including a medical doctor and were flying to Cape Coast for  a meeting when he was forced down.

According to him, they were flying over a church where an all-night vigil was  being held when he crash landed as Servants Kings International School.

“When we asked him where he was coming from, Atta told us that he was from Akuapem Akropong but was flying to Cape Coast to attend a meeting for witches and wizards,” he said.

Charles also confessed that the two puffy protrusions on his chest were breasts taken from his 16-year- old granddaughter and that he normally borrowed them for his night activities.

The two brothers said they were initially confused and bewildered by the weird sight of the man, and not knowing what to do him took him to Pink FM, a local radio station at Kasoa for help.

When the strange announcement was made on radio, hundreds of people besieged the premises of the radio station to see the suspected wizard.

Upon hearing the news, the Kasoa District Police dispatched a number of police personnel to the station to save the victim from being lynched.

Superintendent Samuel Tabril Punobyin told the paper that the police did not investigate spiritual matters and that the suspected wiz-ard could therefore not be charged.

He said the police would look for the family erf the man and hand him over to them. Charles Atta is still in the custody .of the Kasoa Police.

VIDEO: “You Are A Widow, Go And Die!” – Adams Oshiomole Lashes Out At Poor Woman

These were the chilling words that Gov. Adams Oshiomole used in attacking a poor widow that was contravening the law in Edo state – “You are a widow, go and die”, the offence of the woman remains unclear, but the crowd seems to be very unhappy with the Governor’s choice of words especially given the situation of the woman in question. I am sure this is an everyday occurrence in the country, but this one was caught on tape,

ASK A9: My Wife Changed After We Got Married From The Beautiful Woman I Fell In Love With To A Completely Different Person

I met my wife whilst on a business trip to Abuja last year. To say she was stunning is an understatement but what attracted me to her was the attention she gave her body, watched her weight, had this nice scent and was particular of her general looks.
I married her nine months after we began dating and then everything changed. My once beautiful and trendy lady lost all that dazzle immediately we got married. She stopped using makeup and fragrance.
She seemed to no longer care how she looked and for me that was one of the things I saw that made me fall in love and marry her. Now it appears all that has gone and it really saddens me. I feel like she used all that body attention to lure me and as soon as we got married decided to show her true nature.
I've complained so many times but she doesn't seem to care. Its been six months we've been married and am already fed up and irritated with this new person. I'm no longer attracted to her.
How do I handle this. What should I do?

Week Ultimatum, An Empty Threat – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday described the threat by the federal government to sack lecturers if they don’t return to classroom as empty threat that could not hold water.

The union said it is vindicated that the Federal government was not ready to implement resolutions reached with the union.

ASUU said the threat will fail, adding that Nigerian public universities need 60,000 lecturers due to government’s failure to employ more capable hands into the system.

The union said federal government is wasting the time of Nigerians youths by failing to perfect the resolutions and get the strike suspended.

The union added it had reasons to be wary following the failure of government to honour their promises to Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, resident doctors and other health workers who have suspended their strikes.

The ASUU National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, while responding to the government’s directive, said the threat does not hold water as it has confirmed the fears that the federal government cannot be trusted.

President Brother Jailed For Raping His 4-Year-Old Daughter

The paedophile brother of Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has been jailed for 16 years for raping his daughter.

Liam Adams, 58 years old was found guilty last month of sexual assaults on his child Aine Dahlstrom when she was aged between 4 and 9 in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The daughter, now 40, wiped tears from her eyes as she watched her father being sentenced.

Liam Adams, from Bernagh Drive, was found guilty of 10 offences against his daughter – three counts of rape, four of indecent assault and three of gross indecency.

During a first trial earlier this year, which collapsed, the Sinn Fein president, now a public representative in the Irish Republic, claimed he first heard of the séx abuse claims in 1987 and, 13 years later, his younger brother admitted his guilt to him while the pair were walking in the rain.

Included in the list of Liam Adams convictions was an incident in May 1978 when he raped and further séxually abused his daughter when her mother was in hospital giving birth to her younger brother.

Adams reportedly warned his daughter that if she told on him he would be sent to jail.

Comedian Julius Agwu sues Etisalat for N100m over blocked line

Comedian Julius Agwu has dragged telecoms giant Etisalat to court for blocking his business line. He is demanding for N100million as compensation for jobs lost, contact lost, for the inconveniences, and for being mistreated by Etisalat staff. Below is a statement from his lawyer, Festus Keyamo...
We are solicitors to Mr. Julius Agwu, one of Nigeria's most sought after entertainers (hereinafter referred to as "our client") and on whose behalf we write.
Our client is the owner of the Etisalat GSM phone number 08189555555, which he uses as his business line. On the 8th of October, 2013, our client travelled out of the country and returned on the 17th of the same month. Upon his return, he tried severally to make calls from the aforestated GSM line but same could not connect. Not only could he not make calls, he also could not receive calls on the said GSM line. This continued for some days until he got a message that his line had been blocked by the network provider.

Sequel to the above message, our client promptly visited your Abuja office at Hilton to report the matter. He was attended to by one Miss Joan, who informed him that somebody swapped his line. After our client successfully answered the security questions put to him, he was informed that his line had been restored, but the credit balance on the line was not returned.

Surprisingly, our client's aforestated line was blocked again after he left your said Abuja office. Once again our client visited your office at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos to lodge a complaint, but painfully, nothing was done about it.

However, after sometime, our client was invited for a meeting at your head office in Lagos on the 14th of November, 2013 which he duly honoured. Present at the meeting (in addition to the officials of your organization) was Mr. Mobolaji Okusaga, the Managing Director of The Quadrant Company, in his capacity as media agents/managers for Etisalat Nigeria.

At the end of the meeting, our client was told for the umpteenth time that they would get back to him, which they again failed to do.

LOSS OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

It cannot be over emphasized that your actions of unlawfully blocking and/or swapping our client's line occasioned loss of business opportunities to him. As you are aware, our client as one of the most sought after Nigerian entertainers needs his phone line to be easily accessible to keep his business going. It therefore goes without saying that our client has lost some business opportunities as a result of your actions.

TAKE NOTICE that we have our client's firm instruction to demand and hereby demand the sum of N100,000,000.00 (One Hundred Million Naira) as compensation for the loss of business opportunities and the inconvenience caused our client by reason of your unlawful and unjustified blocking and/or swapping of our client's Etisalat GSM phone line.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that in the event that you fail, refuse or neglect to accede to our above stated demand within seven (7) days from the receipt of this letter, we shall be compelled to set in motion against you, all legal machineries necessary to obtain legal remedy for our client.

Thank you.
Yours sincerely,

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

Photos: Mysterious healing river appears in Enugu state

Biko have you people heard of the River with healing powers that mysteriously appeared in a community in Enugu State? Well, now you have heard, so grab a can and head down there or go for a swim while offer lasts...:-). OK, let's get serious! A River with 'healing powers' (according to the people of the community) mysteriously appeared in a community in Enugu State called Nachi, in Udi LGA. The river, now called Orimiri Jordan (River Jordan) was first seen on Nov. 11th. Continue..
According to reports, a Fulani Herdsmen first spotted the river and ran to people in the community to alert them of the discovery. He told them that as he passed the area with his herd of cattle, he heard a strange noise, and when he turned back, he saw the river that wasn't there previously.

The community went to look for themselves and discovered that the water has healing powers. But the traditional ruler of Nachi community said something slightly different. He said the river appears every 20 to 30 years but dries up after a few weeks so it wasn't anything new.

An elder in the community explained:
“We noticed that after some years, the water will form a stream there and would disappear in few weeks. If such happens, we will be fetching water there. However, women who are menstruating and evil people don’t go there. We never heard about healing power of the River until this recent appearance of the River.
“The last time it appeared was in 1992, and at that time, it just formed a small stream, which later disappeared. It has never been as large as this. This is all I know, we have never known about its healing power, this is the first time we are hearing about healing, I don’t whether it is true”.
Meanwhile, Okada people are already making money from this as they charge passengers between N500 to N1,000 to transport them from a junction to the Healing River as hundreds visit the place every day to get some of the water which quite a lot of people testify has healing powers.

“Don’t Fall A Victim”: Warning From Nkiru Sylvanus

Over and over again, Celebrities are being confronted with scammers using their names to dupe their fans. Even though so many of them have warned their fans through the media, some still fall victim of that.

Tuesday Night, 26 November,  Nollywood Actress Nkiru Sylvanus was also confronted with the same situation and she decided just like many other Celebs to warn her fans about scammers using her fake profile to dupe them.

Hear her:

“It has just gotten to my knowledge that some jobless fraudsters has been using my name on Facebook Nkeiruka Sylvanus to swindle innocent poor Nigerians, please disregard these people, know that I will be proud to associate with whatever project I embark on. One IRIA EHIS with a KEY STONE bank account num 6017544801 is not from me, and is not connected to me in any way. So stop giving him your hard-earned money. He is a dupe. Please help me share this information.”

When Diamond celebrities spoke with her on how she knew about the fraudster, she said it was a friend of hers that informed her.

” Someone close to a friend just called her to say she paid in 10k into that account for my new project, I was shocked. She also said the girl was asking when am I starting the project and all that, strange.”

“I feel terrible about this, people that genuinely love me and believe in me would have fallen. Am mad right now ”, she also told Delia Innoma.

Well you’ve heard her, be warned!!!

Ex-militant, Asari-Dokubo arrested in Cotonou

A Former Niger Delta militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, was on Tuesday arrested in Cotonou, capital of Benin Republic.

It was learnt that the ex-militant was arrested at about 1.00pm by the Benin Republic’s police.

A statement by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo confirmed the arrest, saying Asari-Dokubo was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to “an unknown destination.”

Keyamo, in the statement on Tuesday, argued that Asari-Dokubo was not arrested for running any illegitimate business in the country.

The lawyer noted that the ex-militant had been residing partly in Benin Republic for many years, adding that Asari-Dokubo owns property in Cotonou.

It was gathered that the ex-militant reportedly opened a private university – King Amachree African University, in Benin Republic.

The university is preparing to start degree-awarding programmes in 2014.

The statement reads in part, “Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1pm and 2pm by the country’s gendarmes (police).

“He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as of this evening and nothing incriminating was found.”

Keyamo expressed the conviction that “Dokubo’s arrest and detention are a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in an unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches.

“We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.”
