Gay daughter of Hong Kong billionaire writes him an open letter

Last week, Hong Kong billionaire, Cecil Chao, 77, was in the news after he reportedly doubled his reward ($130million) for any man who would woo his daughter away from her lesbian lover, marry her and give him grandchildren

The daughter, Gigi Chao, 34, who is already married to her partner Sean Eav & resides in France has written an open letter to her father asking for him to come to terms with the fact that she is a lesbian.

The letter was published today in Chinese newspaper, South China Morning Post. Find it after the cut

Dear Daddy,

I thought the timing was right for us to have a candid conversation.
You are one of the most mentally astute, energetic yet well mannered and hard-working people this humble earth has ever known.
Your confidence, quick wit, and charisma brightens any room you enter.
I love you very much, and I think I can speak for my brothers also, that we have the utmost respect for you as a father and role model in business.

I am sorry that people have been saying insensitive things about you lately. The truth is, they don’t understand that I will always forgive you for thinking the way you do, because I know you think you are acting in my best interests. And we both don’t care if anybody else understands.

As your daughter, I would want nothing more than to make you happy. But in terms of relationships, your expectations of me and the reality of who I am, are not coherent.

I am responsible for some of this misplaced expectation, because I must have misled you to hope there were other options for me. You know I’ve had male lovers in the past, and I’ve had happy, albeit short-lived, relationships. I found myself temporarily happy, buoyed by the freshness, the attention, the interest, of someone physically stronger than myself.

But it was always short-lived, as I quickly lost patience, and felt an indescribable discomfort in their presence. It usually made me frustrated, and I would yearn for my freedom again. I’ve broken a few hearts, hearts of good, honest and loving men, and I’m sorry that it had to be so.

But with Sean, a woman, somehow it was different. I am comfortable and satisfied with my life and completely at ease with her. I know it’s difficult for you to understand how I could feel romantically attracted to a woman; I suppose I can’t really explain it either. It just happens, peacefully and gently, and after so many years, we still love each other very much.

My regret is that you have no idea how happy I am with my life, and there are aspects of my life that you don’t share. I suppose we don’t need each other’s approval for our romantic relationships, and I am sure your relationships are really fantastic too.

However, I do love my partner Sean, who does a good job of looking after me, ensuring I am fed, bathed and warm enough every day, and generally cheering me up to be a happy, jolly girl. She is a large part of my life, and I am a better person because of her.

Now, I’m not asking you to be best of friends; however, it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so terrified of her, and treat her like a normal, dignified human being.
I understand it is difficult for you to understand, let alone accept this truth.

I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out who I am, what is important in my life, who I love and how best to live life, as an expression of all these questions. I am proud of my life, and I would not choose to live it any other way (except also figuring out how to be gentler on the planet).
I’m sorry to mislead you to think I was only in a lesbian relationship because there was a shortage of good, suitable men in Hong Kong.
There are plenty of good men, they are just not for me.
Wishing you happiness.
Patiently yours,
Your daughter, Gigi

6 Ways To Become Magnet For Men

If you are a shy one and don’t know for sure how to become a magnet for men, this article will help you to discover the secrets of this fine art.

1. Dress to kill

Did you know that the red color has the ability to attract a man’s attention? Be it a glossy red lipstick, a gorgeous red outfit or a pair of killer red stilettos – you can actually pull him towards you without much effort. A little skin show won’t hurt either!

2. Keep eye contact:

If you want to be a man magnet, you have to show that you are interested and ‘available’! So how do you do that? Make eye contact, of course. But before that, you must master the art of grabbing his attention. You could either casually stare at the guy and exchange a few stolen glances or smile and blush to let him know that you are interested.

3. Power of touch

Once you have nailed the eye contact, prepare to strike up a conversation with the guy. A subtle smile will attract him and get you closer to him. Maintain a confident poise, and indulge in some harmless flirting by keeping your hand on his shoulder while sharing a joke. A tingle of excitement will surely make him lose balance.

4. Flaunt the right attitude

Men don’t like loud women, so take it easy. It is more about flaunting the right attitude that makes you a man magnet. Wear a positive attitude and show him that you are an ambitious woman. It’s clearly a turn on, trust us.

5. Wear a smile

A smile costs nothing, so work it, babe! Men are drawn to women who are happy and confident. Wearing a smile on your face will certainly help in making an impression. So flash that gorgeous smile and win a few hearts today!

6. Feel sexy

Last but not the least, shed your inhibitions and be the woman you always wanted to be – smart, beautiful and sexy! Don’t be afraid to show off your wilder side, but also remember to stay grounded. Seeing a woman who knows how to balance herself will make him go weak in his knees for sure.

Secondary School Students Threaten To Kill Corpers In Kogi (PHOTOS)

NYSC batch A Corp members are living in fear over the threat made by secondary school students to kill Corpers serving in Kogi state.

Here how a serving corper in Victory Model College, Efodo – Okpo, Olamaboro L.G.A of Kogi State reports it:

It’s no good news to hear that NYSC Corp Members are treated with discontentment in Kogi State, especially in remote local government like Olamaboro.

There have been cases of some drunk youths ganging up to launch attack on corpers at their capital project sites, accusing them of integrating strange norms into their culture

Let me go straight to what I witnessed this morning. I woke up this morning like every other boring mornings in the village where I serve, dressed up, and went to the school. On arrival, all the students were gathered at one corner looking at me and the other Corp members, some with satisfaction, while others with pity.

On getting to the class rooms, we saw some write-ups directly warning me and other three(3) batch A Corp members.

Four(4) of us (batch A) and two (2) other batch C corpers are on hide out, praying God to intervene on the issue.

Batch A passing out parade (POP) comes up on the 13th of February, and the question is why would people whose lives we have impacted for close to one year decide to reward us with death threats?

Eleven Awesome Things Men Do

What makes a man attractive might have less to do with how hard he tries, and more the things he does without even realizing.

”What do men do that’s attractive, that men don’t know about?” The resulting comments covered everything from being kind to animals to driving a stick shift, and the majority of the responses weren’t actions or traits specific to men.

Here are the 11 most attractive things a man can do, according to Reddit users:

1. Be kind, especially to strangers. Whether that’s tipping the delivery guy extra when it’s raining, pulling over to help someone with car trouble or holding the door open for someone with their hands full. As one user wrote, “Catching you doing something that shows your character… sexiest thing ever.”

2. Laugh out loud. Because who isn’t attracted to someone who finds joy and humor in the world? For one Redditor, “Genuine, uncontrollable laughter makes me want to kiss them.”

3. Roll up their shirtsleeves. Redditors love forearms, which are “the equivalent of bosoms for women” and “swoon-worthy.”

4. Go gooey-eyed. The way someone looks at you can be very telling. One Redditor loves “When [your partner's] eyes get all sparkly when they first see you” — who wouldn’t?

5. Speak passionately. Commenters on the thread were in agreement that the topic is less important than the way they talk about or argue for it. One user wrote: “When my [significant other] talks excitedly about anything he cares about, even if it isn’t really one of my interests, it is insanely attractive to me.”

6. Hold a conversation. Being able to make “intelligent conversation” is a seriously underrated point of attraction. For anyone who needs help, there’s an app for that.

7. Concentrate hard. “I love the look a guy has on his face when he is trying to figure something out,” one user wrote. No know-it-alls required.

8. Cook. One Redditor explained how watching her partner cook was a huge turn-on:

I LOVE watching my boyfriend cook. I can stand there and watch him all day long. He’s bustling around, chopping veggies and putting dry rub on meats and stirring things around in a pan, all confident and sure-like. He thinks he’s just making dinner. What he doesn’t know is that by the time the meal is ready, after watching him be so competent and unself-conscious and focused on making the food, I want to rip his clothes off and have my way with him first, and eat dinner later.

9. Use eye contact, “especially when there’s a bunch of pretty girls around.” Knowing that someone is giving you their full attention is a huge plus.

10. Be thoughtful. One user appreciates a guy “sending a text out of the blue to say you’re thinking of me or sending a text in regards to something I said in passing.” Forwarding an article you think might interest someone, remembering a difficult anniversary or wishing someone luck at a big meeting — all small things that make a huge difference.

11. Hug from behind. According to one user, “It’s cute, and it makes us feel safe.” And who doesn’t like hugs in general?

What are the most attractive things your partner does?

An Open Letter to Maheeda from UK-Based Radio & TV Presenter, Minnie Marj

Radio & TV Presenter, Minnie Marj based in the United Kingdom has published an open letter to Naija Bad Girl Maheeda; read what Minnie had to say below.

Yeah it is about that time where I grab my laptop in order to do something that I am very passionate of: Writing and sharing my point of view.

Nope, its not about a big celebrity that misbehaved in one way or another. It is about this music video that is currently trending. That naked Lady showcasing her seduction skills rather than the usual dope, off the chain 16 BARS that we always expect a rapper to do, goes by the name of Maheeda.

This video is stirring up much controversy , due to Maheeda’s na_ked self frolicking around for some overly-hormonal Gentlemen who seem to enjoy the spectacle. It’s a shame nobody will actually really listen to the song and rate this artist according to her musical skills.

Aren’t musicians supposed to deliver vocally or lyrically? Lyrically speaking there are no punch lines in thissession. Sentences such as : Never find me in Okada…Me I break a leg BUT you break nothing…If you think sey you spoil Me I don rotten…

I’m a bad girl don’t need to be told … Ema Dami Duro… (No worries we aren’t trying to stop you) icon smile An Open Letter to Maheeda from UK Based Radio & TV Presenter, Minnie MarjMinnie Marj Maheeda   And the listgoes on and on…. I actually closed my eyes because I wanted to listen to the song and give credits where it is due but in this case I will have to pass.

Credits will go to the Beat maker for a nice beat and the director for a nice video. My opinion would be different if we had a special Adult Channel where this music video and other hard_core films would be pitched to.

This is the reality and we have none of this yet on our TV channels based in Africa.

So what is Maheeda’s market actually? Who is she targeting with her visuals? Does she intend to always drop her videos on Youtube? I guess this video would probably be banned from Media houses unless they re-edit the Clean Version because the existing Clean Version isn’t really Clean to be honest with you. I am not judging anything here but please bear in mind that I am just speaking from a professional point of view.

America would love and adore this video but this is Mama Africa. Ain’t Nobody got time for that?!? Well the statistics say something else: 7K +views for the Clean version and 50K + views for the Explicit version. What happened to the Born Again musician?? Temptations,Temptations…. I would call this a Reverse Reaction aka RR.

This is what happens when you slightly believe that something will change your life because someone told or convinced you that it will do so and NOT because you deeply had the faith that it will BE so. It is not easy to keep the faith especially when times are hard. You are a true Born Again If You survive all tests God puts you through with a bigger faith than you had before.

I don’t even want to discuss about the pyramid symbol she is dancing in.I know loads of you have concluded already but please give her the benefit of doubt. To everybody out there, please make sure you really become born again because you are ready for a change and not because someone told you that you have to change.

 I’m out.

Tell us what you think!

Police framed Justin Bieber? TMZ claims singer was not drag racing

TMZ reports that Miami police claim that Justin Bieber was drag racing and driving under the influence when he was arrested on Thursday morning doesn't hold water. TMZ report below...

Miami Beach cops claim Justin Bieber was drag racing at the time of his arrest Thursday ... but the facts seem to show the allegation is made up ... because we've learned they were actually under the speed limit in the middle of the so-called drag race.

According to the police report ... cops spotted Justin and his buddy Khalil drag racing at around 4 AM. The police report says ... an officer observed the 2 vehicles reaching speeds between 55 and 60 MPH.
Now the problems. Cops say they noticed the "drag race" on the 2600 block of Pine Tree Drive. Cops were traveling in the opposite direction so they made a U turn and pursued the cars for 15 blocks. Continue...
Mind you ... Justin was driving one of the fastest race cars around -- a Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder.  Khalil was driving a Ferrari 16M.  Cops claim 2 SUVs in Justin's entourage actually blocked off traffic to give the 2 a clear path.

So how could a 15-block drag race in those cars reach speeds of ONLY 60 MPH?

Fact is ... THEY DIDN'T REACH 60.  IN FACT THEY DIDN'T REACH 50.  THEY DIDN'T EVEN REACH 40.

TMZ has learned ... the place where Justin and Khalil rented the cars attached a GPS device that also tracks speed.

The GPS clocked both cars at 27 MPH at the 3500 block of Pine Tree Drive ... smack in the middle of the so-called "drag race."

There's only one time they ever broke 50 MPH and that was long before the pursuit started.  When Justin and Khalil left the club, one car was briefly clocked at 52 MPH and the other 47 MPH. Both drivers slowed down pretty quick and 5 blocks before cops noticed them they were going 34 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.   Blocks later, they were steady at 27 MPH.

So it seems cops goosed the facts to justify the stop.

And that's not the only problem with the police report. TMZ broke the story ... Justin's blood alcohol level was .014 -- a barely measurable amount. Yet cops claim Justin reeked of alcohol both at the scene and at the police department.

Meet first female president of the Central African Republic

After years of crisis and political violence, Central African Republic began the first phase of its transition to democratic civilian governance by electing Catherine Samba-Panza to act as an interim President.

A study of the political history of the country showed that Samba-Panza is the first female to become the president of the country.

She emerged after former president, François Bozize, was presurised to stepped down by the international community amid violent clashes between Muslim and Christian groups.

Who is Samba-Panza?

The 59-year-old former Bangui mayor was born on June 26, 1954 in Fort Lamy, Chad to a Cameroonian father while her mother was from CAR.

She studied law in France where two of her three children still live. Before getting into politics, she worked as a corporate lawyer. She was also active in a women’s rights organisation.

Ms. Samba-Panza succeeds CAR’s first Muslim leader Michel Djotodia, who resigned on January 10 after being put under pressure by regional leaders and the former colonial power, France, over his failure to curb the conflict.

She is a Christian but the successful businesswoman is seen as politically neutral. Samba-Panza was the Chairwoman of the National Dialogue in 2003 which was established to address conflict in the region.

She was appointed mayor of Bangui by the National Transitional Council during the 2012 -2013 conflict.

Her appointment was accepted by both sides in the conflict as she was viewed as politically neutral.

How she emerged

She was elected as the top candidate amongst seven contenders in a vote by the transitional parliament on Monday. Samba-Panza won 75 votes in the run-off, against 53 for Mr. Kolingba, the son of a former president.

The election went to a second round after Ms. Samba-Panza failed to secure an outright majority in the first round. Six other candidates were knocked out in the first round. Among them were two women and two sons of former presidents.

They all had to meet the stringent requirements set by the National Transitional Council. All those who had held political offices under previous interim president, Michel Djotodia, as well as all party leaders and active members of the military were not allowed to run for the presidency. Also among those excluded from the top job were members of militia groups.

About 129 members of the 135-seat council took part in the secret ballot, AFP reports.

Task ahead of the new president

Central African Republic leader, Catherine Samba-Panza, faces tough challenges as the country’s new interim president. She faces a huge task of bringing peace between Muslim Seleka fighters and the Christian anti-balaka militias.

As interim president, she is required to organise a general election by 2015; as well as facilitating the return of hundreds of thousands of refugees to their villages and restoring a functional government.

CAR has to hold a fresh election by February 2015 at the latest. France, however, wanted the election to hold this year. Current law excludes the interim president from running.

What people say about her

According to the French Catholic daily newspaper, La Croix, the news of her appointment as interim president was well received by most Bangui residents.

In the eyes of the business community, Samba-Panza is the right person for the job. Development and human rights organisations have also welcomed the appointment of the first female to such a high profile job in CAR.

Her first request

The first request made by the female president was to plead with the Christian militias, known as anti-balaka and Muslim fighters in the ex-Seleka rebel movement to end the bloodshed.

In her victory speech, she said, “I call on my children, especially the anti-balaka, to put down their arms and stop all the fighting. The same goes for the ex-Seleka – they should not have fear. I don’t want to hear any more talk of murders and killings.

“Starting today, I am the president of all Central Africans, without exclusion,” she is quoted by AFP.

Simple Rules On How To Keep Men Of These Days (MUST READ)

Many women have lost some precious men in their lives because they couldn’t play by the rules of how to keep a man.

Some women are now in their 40′s and still don’t have any man in their lives and they blame it on the old lady in their village. Keeping a man does not demand a Master’s degree or Phd. It is simply by following some rules that will touch the man inside.

Below are 10 rules on how to keep a man:

GIVE HIM SPACE: The fact that he’s given you his key does not mean you should always be in the room, sometimes men love to be alone and always being around ruins it. If you’re that kind of woman who wouldn’t let him have that space and always wanting him available or forcing to accompany him everywhere, you can ruin your relationship. Respect his space, it is very important to him.

BE LOYAL: Everybody loves those who show constant support to them and men are not an exception. Any woman who shows constant support or by being loyal to his man has a greater chance of keeping him than those who don’t. Every man loves a woman who believes in his ideologies and is willing to support him achieve them.

BE PATIENT: Every man will find it difficult to stay with a woman who is impatient and wants to argue all the time. If a man gets angry, it should take the patient of a woman to calm him down, so if you are the type who easily gets angry, how will you be able to calm a man down. The key point here is, be patient. Men hate women who retorts at everything they say.

DON’T NAG: Most women love to nag but too much of it can scare a man away. Some women can go to the extent of even following the man to his work place and nag him till he loses his mind. Women who nag can’t keep a man for long.

BE PROUD OF HIM: There’s no man on earth who wouldn’t appreciate someone who is proud of him even for the little that he has. Being proud of your man and boasting about him makes him love you more. You’re not shy to go anywhere with him, you stand by him in all disgrace and support in difficult times makes him go bananas for you and if you’re a woman who has this quality, you’re bent on always keeping a good man.

BE FAITHFUL: If you’re the type of woman who’s very faithful to your man, he becomes proud of you because you make him feel he’s the world to you. Many women actually think being faithful is when you don’t allow any other man to have sex with you that is it. Being faithful goes far beyond that to a man. Being faithful involves a lot and women need to check it to know when they are being faithful and when they are not. Having too many male friends and being too casual with them can mean being unfaithful to men.

PRAY FOR HIM: Which man wouldn’t want this, not even an atheist. It is important to pray for your man all the time. When you do that, it makes them know you have good plans for them because you always wish them well. Learn to pray for your man, it makes him feel you wish him well and it’s satisfying.

LET HIM MAKE THE DECISION UNTIL HE ASK YOU: Some women feel because they are in a relationship with a man, they can make the decisions in his life. No man will like a woman who always want to take decisions for him, it makes him feel he doesn’t know his left from his right.

DON’T ASK FOR THINGS YOUR FATHER CAN’T BUY: This simply means, don’t request for things that are above his league. Whenever a woman keeps requesting for things from a man, he thinks you’re for sale and the moment he also gets what he wants, he’s gone, because he feels he’s already paid for it.

AS FAR AS HE DOESN’T CHEAT TO YOUR FACE OR PICK HER CALLS IN YOUR PRESENCE, DON’T COMPLAIN MANAGE IT. YOUR NEXT MIGHT BE WORSE: Many women have lost their sweethearts because they went probing into things that does not concern them. It is true many men love to cheat, but any man who cheats and hides it from you intends to keep you and doesn’t want to lose you in particular but if you go probing too much, he might be out the door sooner than you know it. Do not let the other woman be your worry, rather work on making him yours and the other woman will lose or else you will lose him to you.

Sometimes it is important to keep mute and flow with the tide than question everything you see and enjoy the ride. You’re the queen, she’s the sidekick, don’t bother. So you see how important that is, sometimes just don’t worry your head over other women and you will still win.

Seven Gay Men Arrested In Bauchi

According to a report by Channels TV, seven men appeared in court in Bauchi on Wednesday, Jan. 22, on charges of being involved in same-sex relationships.

The case drew thousands of protesters to the court, who threw stones at the men as they were being transported back to prison after the trial, as security forces fired into the air to disperse the angry crowd.
The men were arrested by the Bauchi State Sharia Commission for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities, acts that contravene the Islamic laws which the state had been operating under since 2001.

The men were named as Shehu Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Aliyu Dalhatu, Abdulmalik Tanko, Usman Sabo and Hazif Sabo Abubakar and Ibrahim Marafa. Continue...

It was the first case since President Goodluck Jonathan signed a bill that criminalises same-sex relationships, defying Western pressure over gay rights and provoking criticism from the United States.

The bill, which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous relationships” and membership of gay rights groups, was passed by the National Assembly last May but Jonathan had delayed signing it into law until early January.

At Thursday’s trial, the prosecuting lawyer said the case was a direct result of the recently-passed law.

“This is further to the law against homosexuals which was signed by the President. It has to be implemented. People caught breaking this law must be prosecuted accordingly,” said Danlami Ayuba.

The trial was adjourned to January 27.

Nigeria's former Minister Humphrey Abah & wife welcome baby 23yrs after marriage

Nigeria's former Minister of State for Interior,Humphrey Abah and his wife of 23 years, Mrs Mary Abah welcomed a baby recently 23 years after they got married.

49 year old Mary, who is a lawyer and banker, shared her experience with Punch on the challenges of being married for so long without a child and the support she got from her husband.

"When they told me I was pregnant, I screamed and cried in the hospital and everyone present rose up and gave thanks to the Lord. Since then, the story has been one testimony after another. But that was not all, when I was to put to bed, I was told there might be complications as a result of all the operations I had done. They said that might make it a very difficult and dangerous birth. Yet, the Lord saw me through. It feels great and I thank the Lord for wiping away my tears and making me a mother at last. It is a dream I have had since I married at the age of 27. Now, I am more than 49 years old, it has taken a long time but the Lord has done it for me. I have shed a lot of tears. Our story is like that of Abraham and Sarah. I am already in menopause but I told God that if He did it for Sarah and gave her womb the strength to conceive, then He would give my womb the same strength. Even when doctors in London told me in 2011 that nothing could be done, I knew that it is only Him (the Lord) that could help me. I focussed on the Lord and He did it for me." Unbelievable! Miracles do happen. Continue...

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby 23 years after marriage. Did you ever think it was going to be like this?
Before I got married, my view of the marriage institution was that marriage was a sanctuary; a place where a woman could actualise her dream together with her partner. I understood very early that marriage usually gives some form of security and the expectation was that in it, one should blossom, be fruitful and multiply generally as the Bible says. That was basically how I saw marriage in my youthful age because I finally married at the age of 27 and I was still quite young.

In essence, you did not anticipate the challenge of having a baby…
No, I didn’t anticipate it, the truth is that as a young child who was brought up by a very strict mother, I saw life as a bit of calculation: a sort of ‘1+1 =2 and 2+2=4.’ So if you get married, you expect that after nine months, as they say, you will have a child or children. My challenge has made me very sensitive to what parents and well wishers normally do at wedding ceremonies. During a wedding, people start talking about gathering again for a naming ceremony after nine months. They say it as a joke but that is the genesis of pressure on married women. So, if yours doesn’t happen after nine months, there is a question mark there and you begin to fret and other problems come in.

Did you have any health challenge when you were growing up that could have delayed your giving birth?
Not really, it was much later in life that the health challenge came. I have been a banker since 1987 when I undertook my National Youth Service Corps. I served in a bank as a lawyer. I continued to work in the bank thereafter. Because I ended up in the banking industry, I decided to update myself in everything related to the industry.

During these trying moments in your life, did you feel that somebody somewhere was responsible for your predicament?
The truth is that in the whole of the 23 years, I refused to focus on such things.  I didn’t worry about who it was, what it was, where it was or how it was. I did not want to get myself involved in what would cause me anguish for the rest of my life.

You are from Cross River State while your husband is from Kogi State. Was there resistance from your parents when you initially wanted to marry Mr. Humphrey Abbah?

The way we met each other was very peculiar and our marriage was also peculiar. Our families did not actually affect us. They were not there when we met and when we started courting. Our families were not so involved and when it came to the decision of marriage, we took that decision on our own but involved our families later. My husband is not somebody that you can force to do something which he doesn’t believe in. So, even when we got married, that was already established in his family . When he said this was the young lady he wanted to marry, I don’t think he had too much opposition. If there was any at all, it was very insignificant. The truth is that my father-in-law was a very lovely person; a gentleman who had a lot of respect for his son.  By the time we got married, his mother was late and my parents were late too. So, his father was the focal point and the cordial relationship they had made it easy. The rest of my family and the elders gave us a little bit of tough time as you would expect in inter-cultural marriages. But it didn’t take us time to be able to woo them to our side and that was it.

At what stage did you begin to get worried?
My first signal was when I was 30 years and three years in my marriage. At first, it didn’t really worry me because as a career person, I felt we should take it in our stride. I was already beginning to make waves in the banking industry and the demands of the job were already telling on me. Also in my innocence, I didn’t really feel it was an issue. But by the time I was 30 and nothing had happened, I asked myself, ‘what’s going on here?’ Then I began to be conscious of it and started making deliberate efforts to get pregnant. Before this time, there was no real effort. When the pregnancy was not forthcoming, I began to suspect that there was a real problem. But as usual, I went to the doctors, they said there was no problem and suggested that I should give myself time because I was a busy lady. But after about a year, I went back and they gave me one or two interpretations as to what could be wrong and we started tackling it from there and it came to the point that by 2011, the doctors were saying nothing could be done.

Which was your first point of call, church or hospital?
By 1991 when we got married, we became born again and the church had become a focal point and integral part of our lives. We were praying and fasting; good relationship with the leadership of the church had become part of our daily lives and so the church was always there for us. The church was never against consulting orthodox doctors. The only no-go area for us was to seek help outside God. So I think that was why very early in the journey of this crisis, we knew that anything outside God was not an alternative to take at all.
