See How N55m Was Splashed On GUS Winners

Organisers of the Gulder Ultimate Search have splashed a total of N55.146m on winners at the just-concluded 11th edition of the GUS winners’ party.

The event, which held at the Women Development Centre in Awka, Anambra State, saw the winner of the 2014 edition of GUS, Chinedu Ubachukwu walking away with N10m and a brand new Ford Explorer Sport SUV valued at N15.9M.

The 24-year old, who is incidentally from Anambra State, was officially unveiled as the 11th GUS Ultimate Man having found the General’s war helmet in the Aguleri forest, by Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.

With musical performances from Mavins record boss, Don Jazzy and Dr. SID, the other two finalists, Nne Cosy Joe and Afolabi Emmanuel Olusegun were presented with cash prizes of N2.75m each for their participation in the reality TV show.

Otto Canon Chimenem, who came 4th in the competition, also won the Viewers Choice award and was compensated with a cash prize of N1.5m and a brand new Ford Focus sleek car valued at over N4.3m.

As the tradition of the reality TV show since it kicked off in 2004, 25year old Samantha Appi, who hails from Bayelsa State smiled home with a participation fee of N1.45m and brand new Ford Ecosport valued at N5.5m for being the ‘Last Woman Standing.’

Evi Addoh walked home with N1.4m while one of the viewers’ favourite contestants, Noela Iroh, walked home with N1.35m as participation fee.

26 year old Sharon Robinson got N1.3m for participating in the 2014 edition of the reality TV show while Joshua Nwagboso from Abia State was next as he got himself a participation fee of N1.2m, despite begging for a second chance after his eviction.

Ikenna Emedike was compensated with N1.25m for being part of GUS The Mission at the winners’ party.

While Sandra Nwagbagiro and Ikenna Iwuoha got N1.125m each as participation fee, the first set of evictees at the 2014 GUS, Loretta Erijakpor and Eriata Blessing were rewarded with a participation fee of N1.025m.

The reality show began with a total of 14 contestants, 7 of whom are male: 24-year old Iwuoha Ikenna from Imo State, 27-year old Nwagboso Joshua from Abia State, 28-year old Emedike Ikenna from Anambra State; 28-year old Nne Cosy Joe from Rivers State, 24-year old Ubachukwu Chinedu from Anambra State, 25-year old Otto Canon Chimenem from Rivers State and 29-year old Afolabi Emmanuel Olusegun from Lagos State and 7 female contestants namely 25-year old Iroh Noela from Imo State, 25-year old Appi Samantha from Bayelsa State, 30-year old Erijakpor Loretta from Delta State, 26-year old Robinson Sharon from Delta State, 21-year old Eriata Blessing Ese from Edo State, 22-year old Addoh Evi from Delta State and 25-year old Nwagbagiro Sandra from Anambra State.

Nigerian Entertainment Today’s investigations revealed that the 2014 Gulder Ultimate Search held in partnership with Microsoft and Ford.

Gulder Ultimate Search, also called GUS, is a Nigerian reality television series bankrolled by Nigerian Breweries Plc for one of its brand, Gulder. The first season premiered in 2004 and the recently concluded edition this year was the 11th edition.

The GUS series is a survival type reality programme that highlights the struggle of contestants (10–30 persons, depending on the reference edition), to outwit themselves in the wild while searching for a hidden treasure that brings to the last person standing instant fame and fortune.

Gulder Ultimate Search is a big budget marketing property dominating in the area of experiential event in an industry where many brands are cutting back.

GUS 1

GUS 1 was produced on the Snake Island in Lagos State. The theme was ‘The Legend of Captain Kush’ and Ezeugo Egwuagwu made history as the first winner of the reality show took home the Star Prize of 3 Million Naira.

GUS 2

Obudu Hills, Calabar Cross River played host to the 2nd Season ‘The Lost Helmet of General Maxmillian’ and Lucan Chambliss took home the Star Prize of 5 Million Naira.

GUS 3

NIFOR, Benin Edo State was the venue of ‘The Brew Master’s Secret’ (Season 3) and Hector Joberteh won the grand prize of 5 Million Naira and a Ford Explorer SUV.

GUS 4

The Shere Hills of Jos was the venue of ‘The Search for the Golden Age’ and the athletic Dominic Mudabai outpaced his contemporaries to claim the title that year.

GUS 5

In the stormy hills of Awgu, Enugu Michael Nwanchukwu found ‘The Lost Chronicle’ and exchanged it for the 5 million naira and a brand new SUV.

GUS 6

GUS 6 was taken to the western part of Nigeria in the deserted Omodo Forest of Aagba in Osun State and Uche Nwaezeapu found ‘The Horn of Valour’.

Celebrity Showdown

The celebrity edition was the GUS series was launched in 2010 and location was Lacampagne Tropicana in Epe, Lagos with ace Nollywood Actor, Emeka Ike crowned the winner after he found ‘The Goldern Goblet’.

GUS 7

In the same year when the Celebrity Edition was done, the GUS series moved to Omo Forest, J4 Ogun State for season 7 and ‘The Ultimate Hero’ was Oyekunle Oluwaremi.

GUS 8

The Kukuruku Hills, Egbetua Quarters, Akoko-Edo Edo State, won’t recover from ‘The Contest of Champions’ when Christopher Okagbue stunned the world by winning the 8th season.

GUS 9

2012 was the year that the search moved to Usaka, Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom where ‘The Gatekeeper’s Fortune’ was found by Pascal Eronmose. GUS 9 was directed by Laszlo Bene, the American Director/Producer currently living in South Africa.

GUS 10

In the forest of Usaka, Akwa Ibom, Dennis Okike found ‘The Tenth Symbol’ and exchanged it for the 10 million naira and a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero.
