Tragedy struck in Otukpo, the ancestral kingdom of Idomaland on Wednesday as a ten-year-old boy allegedly shot a nine-year- old girl while playing with her father's gun.
The incident as reported by Joy Fm, Otukpo has it that the girl's father, Sgt. Emmanuel Ekele is a serving policeman who resides at No 18, Ekwo Omenka Street , Otukpo where the sad incident occurred.
It was learnt that the unidentified boy reportedly asked the girl to show him her father's gun, firing the said gun at the girl who fell and died instantly.
It was gathered that the corpse of the deceased has since been deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Otukpo.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO in Otukpo, Francis Obinwa, while confirming the incident said the killer is currently in police custody.
