A sexual education and health teacher at a Massachusetts high school has been indicted on rape charges after prosecutors said she had a sexual relationship with a student

 Rachelle Gendron, 27, was fired from her job at North Central Charter Essential School in Fitchburg following an investigation in which police allegedly recovered "significant" evidence of inappropriate conduct, including text messages and photos of the teacher "in various states of undress with genitals and breasts exposed," from the phone of a 14-year-old male student.

In court Friday, Gendron appeared crying and visibly shaken as she was arraigned on charges including five counts of rape aggravated by age difference.

Gendron is accused of having sex with the victim three times in October 2012, once in January 2013 and then again in March. She is also accused of enticing the boy, according to indictments.

Gendron was released on $2,000 bail. She is not allowed to have contact with the victim, teach or have contact with children under 16 years old, according to the Sentinel and Enterprise.

A school official told the newspaper that Gendron, who had been living with her parents in town, had taught at the school for five years.

Gendron pleaded not guilty to all charges against her. If convicted, each count of rape carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Lagos State Govt buys back LCC's concession rights in Lekki-Epe Expressway

The Lagos State Government has announced its intention to buy back LCCs concession rights in the Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway. Find a press statement from the State Govt below..

    The Lagos State Government wishes to state clearly that it has neither terminated nor cancelled the Concession Agreement it entered into with the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) to reconstruct and expand the 49.36 km Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway.

    To set the records straight, Lagos State Government is engaged in buying back the rights pertaining to the concession ahead of the 30-year period stipulated in the Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (DBOT) Concession Agreement. This is to be achieved by purchasing all the shares in LCC.

The State Government came to this decision to buy back the rights in the light of several developments clearly not envisaged in the 2006 Concession Agreement (which became effective in 2008) a few of which are highlighted below.

The project, given its pioneering nature, had some underlying assumptions and market indicators under which the transaction was concluded which have since drastically changed in a manner that it can no longer be sustained in its current form. Such include the devaluation of the Naira and costs of construction.

The LCC, which is the special purpose vehicle representing the investors, formally brought it to the attention of the State Government that given the rapid rise in interest rates on local loans, and other cost parameters, it is compelled to raise tolls currently being charged at Toll Plaza One from N120.00 to N144.00 per Car.

The Concessionaire also brought it to the attention of the State Government, that as provided for under the agreement, tolling would have to commence at Toll Plaza Two.

In addition, the Concessionaire indicated that unless it realised more income from increased rates at Toll Plaza One and commence tolling at the same rate per Car at Toll Plaza Two, it would not be able to meet its commitments to investors in the project and continue to fund completion of the remaining sections of the road.

Furthermore, the LCC stated that Toll Plaza Three, as contained in the Agreement, must be built and tolls collected for the continued viability of the project.

Under such circumstances, the Lagos State Government felt obliged to buy out the interests of the Concessionaire in advance of the hand-over date of 2038 under a mutual settlement option also expressly provided for in the Concession Agreement. This is after due consultation with all major stakeholders including the Lagos State House of Assembly based on various feedback and agitation made to the Government.

Contrary to the misleading reports by some sections of the media on Wednesday, August 27, 2013 from the State House of Assembly’s consideration and approval of the 2013 Supplementary Budget, the buy-back is not and does not amount to a “termination” or “cancellation” of the concession of Eti-Osa, Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The significance of the buy-back, for which the State Government deserves commendation, is that it allows the Government to take full control over the determination of the toll rates in order to continue to make it affordable for road users. The LCC shall therefore continue to operate as a fully commercial entity for the benefit of taxpayers and the larger society.

More importantly, it would also preserve the ability of the Government to complete and deliver the infrastructure by direct budget funding, which was also one of the reasons for the presentation of the Year 2013 Budget Re-Ordering to the State House of Assembly.

In addition LASG wishes to reaffirm its unflinching commitment to the adoption of PPP Model as a complementary policy thrust for the acceleration of infrastructure delivery towards improving the living standards of the populace. Lagos remains an investor friendly State that shall continue to ensure the sanctity of contracts, as in this case, in sustaining investors’ confidence in its investment climate as a preferred destination.

The general public is therefore enjoined to continue to cooperate with LCC's officials and operatives as it continues the expansion and construction works on the 49.36km Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway and the operations of the toll collection systems. Young Shall Grow Motor boss attacked in Festac, driver&escort killed

The CEO of The Young Shall Grow Motors, Chief Vincent Obianodo, was attacked by suspected assassins on Tuesday night August 27th on 22 Road in Festac Town, Lagos, killing his driver and police escort. He narrowly escaped death.

The multimillionaire businessman was returning home from work on Tuesday night when an SUV double-crossed his vehicle in a lonely area, and some armed men opened fire on Chief Obianodo's car. His orderly who attempted to fire back was killed, his driver who was trying to escape was also killed while Chief Obianodo was shot in the arm.

The shooting attracted the attention of some policemen on patrol in the area who rushed down to the scene and engaged the gunmen in a shoot out, killing two of them.

Chief Obianodo was rushed to the hospital where he is responding to treatment. The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident said it is under investigation.

Jealous 19 year old OSPOLY student bathes boyfriend with hot water

A 19 year old female student of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) Department of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY) has been arrested for allegedly pouring hot water on her boyfriend shortly after his birthday at Miracle Hall, BHS area in Iree last Saturday.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the attacker Yetunde poured the hot water on Niyi Adelana (pictured above) because he invited other girls to his party and flirted with them right in front of her

    Niyi, a Higher National Diploma (HND) II student of Computer Science, suffered serious burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

    The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State, DSP Folasade Odoro, confirmed the incident in a chat with Daily Trust. She said investigation was still going on and that upon completion, the girl would be charged to court.

COMPARISON: Dating Vs Relationships

I wish somebody would have talked to me about this while I was growing up. It would have saved a lot of heartache and wasted time. But since no one did, I feel obligated to pass this knowledge down to the coming generations. I hope that this will guide them into making decisions when it comes to the appropriateness of dating or having a relationship.

There is a big difference between dating and having a relationship with someone. First of all, let me state that just because you find someone interesting does not necessarily mean it is a crush or love. Above all, guard your heart. Despite what others may say, the heart can be very deceiving.

In my life I have meet people who have never dated and where happy only having friends with the opposite sex. Their reason being was to wait on the one person specially designed for them. They did not want to fall into grievances and drama that the world gives so easily, but to hold fast to the faith of a love bounded and created by God. And they knew when that person comes, because they would have the same values as themselves. They surround themselves with people who have the same morals and use their goals to keep their minds occupied.

Not all people are strong enough to be alone and be content while waiting years for that special someone. This is where dating comes in. It is here that one will use the opportunity to get to know someone better. Treat dating as if you where going to a place with a friend. For a first date, it is wise to meet at a coffee shop or someplace public, but not dinner. This way if things start going south, it will be easier to escape the situation and you will have your own way home.

Dating is suppose to be used with no strings attached, no commitments, just two people meeting and if you like them enough, go back for a second date. Relationships, going steady, being boyfriend/girlfriend, is where it gets complicated. In many parts of the world, when two people have that relationship it means they have picked their spouse for life. However, this is not so much in America any more.

A relationship is a commitment to the person you are in a relationship with. It is here that love is introduced, and where most people get their heart broke. Actually, a person should always ask themselves if they love the other or if the other loves them before they get into a committed relationship. The best definition of love that has ever been given to man and has stood against scrutiny for about two thousand years is this:

Aliens Are Now Crossing The Border Disguised as Jehovah’s Witnesses

NOGALES, Arizona - The Arizona sector of the United States Border Patrol has informed the news media that they have recently caught 37 illegal aliens trying to cross the border dressed as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Border Patrol spokesperson Wendell Farlinschultz, 43, said that the 37 who were caught spoke perfect English and knew the doctrines of the Jehovah’s Witnesses extremely well.
He noted that out of the 37, 29 were riding bicycles.
Farlinschultz pointed out that the modern day illegal alien is really getting with the program and learns to speak perfect English on the Internet.
He added that they are also well read on the various U.S. sports such as the NFL, the NBA, MLB, and the NHL.
Several of the illegal immigrants were even singing songs by Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Antebellum, and The Fa Shizzle Ma Nizzle Chumpz.
SIDENOTE: The Amalgamated Data Gathering Agency has stated that the latest border crossing ploy is really working quite well and that for every one illegal alien who gets caught, another ten manage to make it into the U.S. interior.

Fenerbahce have been excluded from European competition for the next two years after losing an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) against a Uefa sanction for match-fixing.

The Turkish side had been due to go into the Europa League following their defeat by Arsenal in the Champions League qualifiers but will now be excluded from that and also from all European competitions next year.

Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv’s appeal against a one-season exclusion from Uefa’s club competitions – also for match-fixing – has also been upheld by Cas.

Uefa welcomed the Cas decisions and will hold a meeting on Thursday to decide which club will take Fenerbahce’s place in the Europa League group stage.

Uefa said in a statement: “Uefa welcomes the decisions of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) rejecting the appeals made by Fenerbahce SK and FC Metalist Kharkiv against the Uefa Appeals Body decisions of 15 July 2013 and 14 August 2013 respectively.

Man gets 90 days in jail for robbing church

An Abuja Mag-istrate’s court, Wednesday, sentenced Awwalu Ali to 90 days imprisonment for stealing a toilet door at the Calvary Faith Baptist Church, Life Camp, Abuja.

The magistrate, Mr Abdullahi Illela, who convicted Ali, said that it would serve as a deterrent to others.

Illela, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N2,500.

Earlier, prosecutor Simon Emmanuel told the court that one Adebiyi Laniyan of the Calvary Baptist Church reported the crime at the Life Camp Police Station on August 24.

Emmanuel said the convict broke into the church compound and removed the door to the toilet, but was arrested before he could escape with it.

The 20-year-old Ali of Pape village pleaded guilty to the charge and urged the court to pardon him.

“I am a family man with a wife and two children; they will starve to death if I go to jail, please, have mercy on me, my Lord,” he said.

Panic over attempted bank robbery in Osun

 Residents of Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State were, Tuesday, thrown into a state of confusion over alleged attempts by a gang of robbers to rob a branch of a new generation bank.

According to sources, the development forced the three commercial banks in the town to halt operations, making it impossible for customers to transact business.

However, the prompt intervention of security agents, including men of the Police Mobile Force and officers of the state Rapid Response Squad, prevented the robbers from getting into the bank located at new Inisha road area of the town.

It was gathered that the robbers had earlier, on Monday, struck in one of the banks in the town where they carted away an undisclosed amount of money.

It was further gathered that security personnel who mounted surveillance in strategic locations in the town succeeded in sending the robbers away from the town.

The incident, however, caught the people of the town unawares as most people hurriedly left the bank premises when the news of the presence of robbers in a part of the town  filtered in.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun State Police Command, Mrs Folasade Odoro said it was a false alarm.
